hello to all,
i have an audio research D 79B in need of a .22MFD@600V coupling capacitors.i called up ARC and they told me the .22MFD@ 600v is no longer available. they suggested that i order from them the .01MFD@630V instead because they have not use the .22 as a bypass capacitor for the past 15 years.i ask my technician whose fixing my D79B if i can use the .01 instead of the original value w/c was the .22 and he said he agrees w/ ARC if the 0.1 will be use as a bypass capacitor but bas a coupling capacitor he does not agree because sonically the sound will be different(highs would be white, bright and overall it mught sound dry and i will loose the glorius mids this old D79B has)what are your opinions my fellow inmates regarding this matter.if i decide to stick to the .22MFD@600v what brand and were can i get a suitable replacement that wont alter the sound of my D79B.by the way the original brand is F-DYNE when the D79B was manufactured.any suggestion or input is welcome
thanks in advance
