Hi,
"Resultants" from the lowest infra-audio frequencies, and "hetrodynes" from ultra high frequencies, get into the midrange, and make it sound "more real" to us non-bat / humans.
A seventy five year old who can't hear above 8,000 HZ can "sense" when its right. It is ideal if the audio system is not bandwidth limited, or dynamic range limited. Trumpets have power at 80 KHZ and a concert harp is probably the most ultra wide band of all we know of, measured at 110 KHZ.
Speakers aren't necessarily the problem. I know of commercial speakers that are within +/- 2 dB from 12 HZ to 100 KHZ. Speaker designers were closing in on this, well over 25 years ago. Ironically, its the amps that are the weakest, as it always has been !
