Don't get me wrong I prefer DC coupling where possible but where AC coupling is needed tipping up the bottom end, whether you choose 20Hz or 40-50 Hz will help most systems. As for the top end two wrongs don't make a right in terms of HF roll off (attenuation of any kind plus more attenuation = more attenuation). The truth is for a system to extend to 20KHz without any attenuation its -3db point must, by default extend out to the vicinity of 50KHz or so! I hear any loss of top end extension as a lack of air, space and definition and while good mids are imperative for vocals and presence wide BW is just as important for full, true to life sound.
