I agree with danlaudionut.
I do not know what a Marantz CD-7 is, or care. But by fluke I learned that it has two 220uF, 16V electrolytics per channel on the output.
Transformer-coupling went out of favor when they invented NFB. Transformers mess up things when you use global NFB. But that's not the reason. Much more important is gain. 10db of NFB means you throw away 80% of the gain. So in the 1950s and 60s we got junk like the Leak TL25A, Marantz Model 9 and McIntosh MC275. At least they measure great.
