Hi Paul:

Considering just economics--- the chinese 845's are less expensive than many of the 300B's.

And--- I have heard low powered 845 SE amps that sounded gorgeous. Here are some low volt, low power recommended operating points from Stereo Sound (Japan) magazine.

plate volts 430

dc plate current 62ma

grid bias -51

load resistance 5000 ohms

r sub p 1700 ohms

mu 5

expected power output 4 watts
