But "normal" volume controls (resistive)
have pitfalls also - the lower the volume
the more strangled the sound becomes.
This is due to a higher input impedance
seen by the first stage tube.
EVERYTHING has a negative side.
The trick is to design to optimize performance
of each and every part and as they integrate.

The materials and design determine the sound it will make.
When you find you prefer a round plate over a square plate
will you blindly buy a tube that might have a square plate.
No you will try to find a round plate for a replacement tube.
Also my point was that on THIS Asylum
we worry about the smallest things.
On SET or Tube Asylums they don't.
