These things are the real deal. 0.10uf 600 volts, aluminum foil and teflon construction. The cases are conductive so I used clear shrink wrap to eliminate possible issues should they touch anything. For instance I got a ground loop hums from when the cap touched my case work on my Hagerman Coronet2.
The Russian FT-3 caps are enormous in size, which made removing the K40Y9 bypass caps a bit less exciting for me.
The teflons allow a degree of speed and dynamics that the K40y9's could not equal. The background is noticeably quieter than the PIO as well. Brass, bells or glocks just sing perfectly natural with the teflons. They have the best high frequencies I have heard from any cap I have spun. Flute and Piccolo sound perfect.
Bass impact and slam are simply in a different league all together.
I rolled in some Mundorf Silver Supremes on the final output caps and was disappointed with the upper mids and highs. The Teflons saved the day here as well. Now I have a wide, tall deep soundstage with upper mids and highs to match. This is a wonderful combination.
Altogether I have bypassed all my B+ 47uf electrolytic supply caps and my final 1.0uf Silver supremes with the FT-3 caps. 16 of these cost me 76 dollars shipped to Reno NV.
They disappear sonically after about 25-35 hours time. I am ecstatic about the Hagerman Clarinet project. Here is a pic. It might be hard to see the Vishay nudes on the board, but these critters are the real deal for clarity. I have over 3 months on the Clarinet and over 100 hours on the FT-3 and Mundorf caps. I couldn't be happier with the results.
I posted a review and a review with pics over in the Amp/Preamp section if you want to know more about the full build. I need to thank a bunch of you for helping me in the formulative stages of the build.
I like the fact that I got wonderful pros and cons feedback for each component and this is actually a great deal more helpful that those battling in the forum might know.
System matching is everything and right now I have everything I want and need for an afforable price.
My goal was to build a preamp and phono section that could compete against the BAT VK-P10SE super pak. These cost 8,000 dollars. For 2,000 dollars I am definitely a great deal closer.
