RE: B+ Similarity: what I've found

First off, I have not yet taken the time to seriously look at your schematics.

BUT....DO change the 5R4 with its thin filament, designed with wider spacing for higher voltages, to a 5U4GB with its thicker filament, closer element spacing, and better instantaneous current delivery.

The 5U4GB is a way better design match to your (relatively) low voltage B+ supply. Can your filament transformer's 5V. winding take a 2 Ampere draw? The thicker filament will give you MORE BASS, more transient attack, than your existing high voltage 5R4 rectifier.

Let us all know how it sounds to you. Cheers. More later.
