A FIVE OHM @ 10 HENRY 125 mA. Magnequest Choke, SPEAK UP NOW !! YOU ALL !!

Hi everyone,

Over the last three years I have done a lot of posts on this Forum regarding the sonic benefits of low DCR iron in a audio supply.

Well, the sun and moons have JUST aligned perfectly - such that Mike LeFevre of Magnequest has come up with a 5 ohm DCR @ 10 HY @ 125 mA. candidate that will knock the socks off of EVERYTHING we've had in audio up 'till now, especially the only other high henry possibility, ( the 10 HY @ 10 ohm Audio Consulting choke from Switzerland, a mostly-phohibitively-expensive device for an average person. )

The closest low DCR choke I know of, reasonably available to us today, is a Lundahl with both of its 5 HY @ 18 ohm windings paralleled ...........to get ( only ) 2.5 HY at 9 ohms.

*** This proposal of Mikey's is SEVEN times better than that, in terms of the unofficial power supply Figure Of Merit !! *** 'Never been available in audio.

The 10 HY @ 5 ohm Magnequest device will allow one to use low uF oil caps, which are FAST, and have reasonable VAC ripple on our supplies. And with 5 ohms, fabulous bass and true inner-detail too !!!


Mikey's new design will be the size of a Dynaco MK III output transformer. He does NOT know if there will be a market for a 5 ohm @ 10 HY choke, so now is the time for ANY low DCR knowledgeable people to SPEAK OUT on this Forum and let us ALL see what develops here. Don't be bashful, openly speak out - and lets see if we can get an "ULTRA AUDIO " choke finally available for our listening pleasure!!
