Thanks to the generosity of Richard Vandersteen, we are able to offer a pair of Vandersteen 1C speakers with optional bases, as part of the Audio Asylum Asian Tsunami Victim Support Auction.
The 1cs may be the smallest of the Vandersteen full-range speakers, but they use the same Vandersteen Aligned Dynamic Design as the big boys! The dispersion and transient accuracy of the drivers are optimized,while preserving the time and phase integrity of the input signal.
The 1cs are a two-way design, utilizing transmission-line loading of the woofer for unusually extended bass from a small cabinet, and first-order crossover networks to allow the drivers to operate in absolute phase with one another. The result is precise imaging and a stable soundstage.
Vandersteen's trademark minimal baffles eliminate early reflections and edge-diffraction, preserving the purity of the sound. The optional bases are included as part of this auction.
