Hi freq drop

Just got my Sony TC766-2 reel-to-reel from service. Works like new, however, there is a drop in high frequency somewhere at around 7 to 10kHz that I can't fix. Brand new tape, clean heads, demagnitised regularly (each 8 hours or so). Any ideas?
I can live with the drop, but I know the machine should be more flat - relative to source. What could explain this? On the other hand, frequencies over 10kHz are intact...
