Late coming here I know...but I got a small boat-load of these tapes and from here, they were the worst with cheap parts inside.
The tape itself maybe fine but the shell and case were to tough to deal with. All developed problems, like squeal or fiction as high no deck was able to play them. I tried all the tricks but no go.
I had some 30 year old Maxell UD90's that I had stop using for whatever reason in storage. As the CD-it shell are welded I had to 'break' the seal and tried out several of the sony's that either squealed or wouldn't play, by swapping the tape out.
And you guessed it: all the sony tape in the Maxell shells now play fine and prefectly.
