I've never had much luck in a resolve issue through ebay. 'Their' theory and hope is that the unscrupulous seller will get scared and cough up some money or pay for a repair to save their rating. "Square deal" is a joke and a lengthy process at best. The ebay folks assume that you have gobs of time and are willing to pay for weak arbitration and even weaker enforcement policies. Ebay lives in their own kingdom, with their own set of rules-so very typical of Net.com businesses. If they were a consumer business in a big city, Consumer Protection agencies would shortly shut them down for the way they deal with in-house claims against sellers.

Your story is very common with ebay. You are the best 'fish' a shrill bid artist can hope for because of your public desire for a particular item and the fact you were willing to pay top dollar for it. You are probably correct in your assumption that you were shrill bid by a friend of the seller. ebay threatens to take a strong, serious stance against this practice-good luck though in proving it. And yes, after a yr it's a moot point....in fact items bought and guaranteed through PayPal even, are not backed up after three months or so if you don't file a claim-ask me how I know.;-)
