I guess turning the bias knob all the way to negative 20 while using the chrome setting would be the same as recording with the switch on type 1? Anyway this all might explain why the audio interviews had a crisp high end on them which worked in that case. I've heard of people doing this before which is where I got the idea from.
Anyway does using a record EQ switch do the same thing? Sony and Aiwa decks have this feature, but I never fully understood how it was to be used. I just know that it can lower or boost the high end on tapes.
