Aiwa AD-F780
Aiwa AD-F800
Sony TC-KE500S
Tascam 34 (4-track)
Ampex late 60's tubed stereo 7" reel-to-reel
Pioneer quadrophonic reel-to-reel (hidden somewhere, collecting dust; used to be my workhorse)

Now I like to record bands live to two-track stereo, using a Panasonic AG-6400 portable hi-fi VHS recorder. It lays down quite a solid signal. Also, the tapes I record on the 6400 play back exceptionally well on my two consumer VHS machines.

I have to say that the Aiwa AD-F780 three-head cassette deck also does the original signal justice. I used to employ the noise reduction while recording until I heared how faithful the playback signal was without using NR. The noise used to send me running, but I like how the harmonics run freely in a non NR'd environment. I can ignore the hiss, & I dont even hear it in the louder passages anyways.
