YAMAHA KX 650 issue

Reel to reel, cassette and other analogue tape formats.

Just got a 3 head Yamaha KX 650. only problem is that in play mode it plays for 2 seconds then stops. In FF or RW for 1 second.
It s not the reel motor cause i tested it with a 9v battery and it works.
Could a belt connected to the motion sensor be loose?
I believe it is a gear idler drive so it can't be an idler issue.
If any one had the service manual I d appreciate a copy.
