I'm recuperating from a motorcycle accident. My left chest was crushed, my backdone broken in 5 places (V4,5,6,7,8). I now have a 25000 dollar bionic addition to my spine because some b!t(h in an aging Toronado decided to block both rights of way on a blind hill and make a cellphone call. I couldn't have attended even if I wanted to. It's been a year, I'm still in pain and now I have to deal with the lawyers and the insurance companies to get anything out of it. But that's life, for the most part I'm still the man I was and I'm just duckey to be alive and can still listen to fine music!
In short I do not like the commercialism surrounding such events. I realize that I'm too self sufficient, satisfied and manufacturers don't like that. I'm a threat. I might copy their product and become a manufacturer myself. They would prefer that I be a consuming peon foaming at the mouth, my ear-brain open to their advertising in anticipation of for the latest and greatest and replacing it every 6 months.
The Pacific Northwest has more rainfall that any place in the country and mold grows on every thing. It is airborne and you can smell it in the air. Many people are allergic to that mold. The Pacific Northwest is the last place I would choose. The chances of it being rainy is very high during the last of April and the first of May. Why not a mountain retreat in the high Sierras? Why not a retreat in the Adirondaks or Hew Hampshire or the Great Smokeys? I also would not choose Las Vegas or Miami Beach because of the high cost of these areas. I mentioned Kansas City because it is in the center of the country, the airport is the most well thought out airport I'm every encountered and there are hotels for conventions close by. I do not live nearby. I live 200 miles from Kansas City.
So go ahead and call me a old cranky cremudgeon or whatever. I have three wonderful, successful children. There is not a pot or dope head or problem amongst them. That is what I was put on this earth for. Happy listening! Ray
