Some gear just doesn't lend itself to travel. I'm bringing almost 230lbs of gear so diving is the only reasonable option. I've been part of a couple of cross country audio fest's and in those cases I've alway sent the gear ahead. If you have something that needs to be sent, contact Michael Kilfold (the organizer) through the VSAC web site.
I've heard a few complaints about the location being tough on our east coast brothers and sisters,.. all I can say is, see about organizing this sort of event somewhere in your region. You can hardly expect someone to organize something on the other side of the continent from where they live (VSAC is being organized by Michael and Carolyn Kilfold, not some big organization like Stereophile).
Even if you can't bring what you'd like to, bring yourself. Checking out a cool piece of gear only lasts so long. Meeting the guy that came up with it can last a lifetime.
