Supremely expensive deck when it came out new-$3800, (last yr was '84) and the 1000 ZXL 'Limited' was over $6000. Basically, a much reworked 1000 Tri-tracer for those who absolutely loved the original. Build-wise, they are both the best Naks, but they only offer Dolby B. Features and sonic-wise, the Dragon and CR-7a surpass it...most agree.

The older transport models like the 1000 series have their own unique, 'warm' sound. It just depends on what kind of accuracy you're after in music reproduction. I have friends who own the 700 Tri-tracer and are fiercely loyal to its 'warm' sound and incredibly build quality.
