RE: Factory fabricated board solder?

It is very possible that if the main PCB was 'wave-soldered' that it used a higher temp solder - and if there are lots of surface mount devices on the PCB then that is almost certainly the case.
a hotter iron - or if you have one of the Weller units with different temp. tips - changing to a higher temp should do the trick.
