Factory fabricated board solder?

Decided to pull the guts from my Netgear Eva digital entertainer to have a look inside the thing and decided might as well upgrade all the (crappy) caps.
On the power board no problems, However, on the main board I cant seem to melt the solder? Do I need a new (hotter) iron or should I leave this thing be?
The solder has a weird grey color to it, whats the deal with this?
