I'm not sure if I would be hear the difference ,but a couple years ago I made a 2 way bookshelf speaker with Audax drivers.
Since the bass driver had a nice natural roll off, I ended up only using a capacitor for thr HF driver. I checked speaker with an IMP setup.
The measurement clearly showed a 21mm offset between the to drivers at optimum alignement at the xover region.
