Store bought commercial speakers? Perhaps, for the reasons given.

But for custom active three ways with digital crossovers for a specific speaker and listener geometry? It's a no brainer - here time alignment is valid, it works, and it's easy to do. And it's surely measureable, and I believe it to be audible as well.
