Have you done a cost estimate of the components you will need for a passive 8th order? Also, have you considered the insertion loss of three or possibly four series inductors on the woofer and midrange low-pass filters?

I would recommend going the PC route and playing with the Thuneau Allocator crossover along with a decent measurement suite. This way you can emulate what you want to do for very little money - you may even want to keep the Allocator in service. The Allocator does have phase compensataion if you get the Allocator/Arbitrator combo.

The big question here is... why 8th order?
