Wierd Problem with Black CD-R

I am attempting to make copies of my CD’s using Memorex Black CD-R’s. I have two writers, one is a Plextor PX-716A DVD and the other is a LG CDR 8080. In both instances when I am using Nero Classic Burner I get an error when attempting to make a copy. The error is “medium error”; assumably these drives don’t like the black CD R’s as I can make copies using other CD R's with no issues. Any idea’s as to why?
