As part of my 8.1 tube HT project I decided to make the five surround channels (side L&R, rear L&R, and rear center) in a single chassis 5 channel amp based on LM3875's. You can read about my BiAmped tube main LCR inthe tube DIY forum soon! Now before the flames start, I know these are not the greatest amplifiers but for audience noise, nature sounds, and movie explosions they are just fine. I only have three rack units (5.25in) left for this amp.
All five LM3875's will be fed from a 10 amp +/- 34v supply. The power supply will have 10,000uf locally and each amp board will have 5600uf on each rail linked back to the supply via fuses.
QUESTION: Would a 1N54XX series diode on each amp card 's rails be a good idea? My theory is this will prevent on or more amps from depleting the 5600uf local reservior on other cards. Other than the 0.7v IR loss across it, any other issues?
