How to display thread posts by date only, not grouped by response

I think I've tried every sort option but I can't figure this out. Is it possible to display a thread so the posts are listed by date only instead of grouping posts by response?
Not sure about the lingo, but I think what I'm asking for is a way to display posts within a thread without threading. This would help a lot in keeping track of new posts in long threads.
