As I understand it (and I don't know the current state at all) some of the system has been ported to Linux and the rest is still WinNT. For some reason if you get a cookie from the Linux code it corrupts the WinNT cookie and visa versa.
To clean it up use the "Eat Me" link near the posting box and things will be fine till you, for example, do a search.
Unfortunately the "eat me" also causes you to loose any forum view settings you have etc.
Hope this helps and I'm with you hoping Rod gets the fundamental bug fixed.
