Thanks for your input. I am attaching a photo of one box, which is better of the two. In this photo, you can at least see a few peanuts. The other one had none. You can also see he used a cardboard tray from a case of bottled water as the only cushion for the bottom of the amp.

Below is a copy of his response after I sent him this photo as an evidence of poor packing:

"What was the condition of the box when you received it? I am beginning to wonder how you took the amps out. Did you force them out so that the boxes ripped apart and the amps got damaged? If I didn't damage the amps myself then why should I have to pay for it? If you really want I could take the pictures to FedEx to see if they could pay for the damage. I did purchase insurance for each amp for $1,500. However, since you ripped the boxes apart it would be difficult to show FedEx that they did damage the amp during shipping"

This guy actually has over 400 positive and no negative feedback on Audiogon, but then this isn't the first time I had problems with sellers with perfect feedback.
