So, does EMM track these things by serial number? In other words, it would be possible for a bona fide dealer to report back to EMM every bona fide sale of a particular product to an end user. They could even report back the purchaser's name and address for warranty records purposes. (I can't imagine the sales volume on items like this is huge.) Someone shows up selling one of these "used" on the Internet and, if the seller's identity doesn't match anyone on the list of previous purchasers, then EMM assumes its a gray market sale by a dealer or by someone fronting for a dealer.

I dunno. Just a thought.
