The SE amp paradigm really denotes a low wattage (out of technical necessity) amplifier and high efficiency speaker with a benign impedance curve. If you violate the paradigm you are really not going to get the sound you are after. It is my own personal contention that the speaker is just as important as the SE amp. There is something really appealing about a high efficiency speaker and dynamics may be a big part of the reason.
