Quickie High Quality Attenuator

I put this together as a "temporary" attenuator, for my latest audio chain at home.

I am currently setting-up for myself THIS :

a Pioneer Elite Blu Ray player ( BDP-09FD ) into this attenuator, into my mid-2015 built Type 45 two stage DC amp, powering stock ALTEC A7 enclosures, with vintage alnico ALTEC 515B 15 inch drivers, run full range, direct ( no crossover inductors, etc. ). Everything is SO critical, audible, in optimizing ALTEC systems, and its a set-up challenge I relish.

Once I am fully familiar with the full-range 515B / A7 enclosure combination, ( soon ) I have ALTEC 802D tweeters to add, freshly rebuilt from GPA ( Remagnetized and new 16 Ohm OEM diaphragms ). I will place 802Ds ( using one-to-two inch adaptors ), on the " SHOWCO " equivalent of Emilar EH-500 horns ( Joe Robert's highly favored small-format horn ).

The attenuator is a Bourns 10K precision wire-wound linear pot, three turn, and I am using the best I could afford parts : Vampire RCA jacks, Kimber Kable AGSS hook up wire ( similar to all-copper TCSS, but this is expen$ive all-silver wire ), Wonder Classic solder, and as SHORT as feasible wire lengths, as low-loss, as possible.

A second attenuator is in planning stages, using TWO of these precision wire wound pots co-joined, as a LADDER attenuator for each channel. It will also have a signal switching capability between three sources.

I REALLY like using the three turn pot, for channel level control, verses one turn !! And, this simple little " quickie" attenuator is serving me well, and it sounds mighty good to my ears!
