A very serious, deep-pocket guy in my area has multiple systems in his home. The BIG system, built around custom-made horn speaker system, was once triamped. He bought three Audionote Sogon amps. When it turned out that the Kageki sounded as good as one of the Sogon amps when driving the tweeter, he bought the Kageki and kept the extra Sogon as a backup amp. How many audiophiles can keep a $250,000 amp as a back up?
He eventually simplified the system and now runs pushpull amps made by a guy in Italy named Aldo d'Urso. I am also running Aldo's preamp (all transformer coupled from input to output) and amp (transformer inputs, 348 driver tubes and 349 output tubes). I have kept my Kageki (on loan to a friend) because I like certain aspects of its sound, but for now, I am in pushpull land.
