Tubes sound best, right at their rated voltage, or, as a maximum, up to 5% less. Its not such a big deal to put a proper filament transformer below deck, neatly, carefully. I TRIM the voltages of ALL filament transformers, using resistors, measuring the VAC AT THE TUBE SOCKET !!!
