I have used 88dB and 91dB speakers with 4 watt amps (2A3) and 8 watt 300B amps and at 89dB it will be string quartets and low volume jazz forever. Add in a non=flat impedance curve and commercial speakers are really tough on low power amps. 8 watts and 94dB speakers with a flat impedance will do the trick and go plenty loud for any music.
