Not if you use a high mu ( high gain, gain of 100 ) triode, as is often done since 1947 in better L-Ws.
( eg : 6SF5, 1/2 of a 12AX7, 7B4s, etc ). All triodes, simple linear.
The Pentode takes more parts to implement.
