If it was the Princess Mesh plate that you heard then I have to agree that the amp design definitely seems to be a key driver here. I had the regular Shuguang 98, Shuguang Treasure, PSVANE and EML 300B XLS with me. All of them are good. EML had the biggest soundstage and played with most authority. The bass was bigger and more defined but ultimately in the midrange there was a coolness. Shuguang treasure and psvane were also nice, but the Sophia princess sounded the most open and liquid of them all.
There is an article in 6moons where Srajan compares many 300B tubes and comes to the conclusion that if the amp is designed for traditional 300B tubes then the bigger and modern 300B variants (EML, EAT etc) can sound cool. Probably that is the case.
