Am still scheming the details of the parts-improvement project, but generally, almost all of the Nichicons will be replaced, with Panasonics, BlackGate VKs, and (unless it changes) WIMA MKP5 DC Link metallized 'propylenes, probably 2-times-114uF/900FDC per amp (on the 2nd pole of the output-stage PS).
Am rolling input and drivers. The former is a 5751; I'm using about-the-same-gain 12AT7s and have heard new Mullard CV4024s, at-least-alleged-NOS Philips E180CC/7062s, and today new JJ ECC81s, the latter being low-noise-and-microfonic versions from TubeDepot. Other than the original GE 5751s sounding a little hard, I've formed no SQ opinions yet.
Anyone know anything about the Philips E180CCs? They're also labeled 'Special Quality' and have tallish gray plates.
