I bought up a 10 lifetime supply of 45s 5 to 10 years ago.For 300Bs, I preferred the AVVT a little over the TJs/Sophias for the early 2000s, but neither float my boat as well as any geriatric 45 from the 30s or 40s.
On the new WE 300Bs, a little known fact is that the first batch that was so highly acclaimed was made by Harold Ulmer of MU Inc. Mr. Ulmer was probably pushing 80 at the time and was an old Hughes tube engineer. His company made tubes for years supplying mostly old Hughes military customers. Some of them were crazy big transmitter tubes. His small group of 8 or 10 artisans did it all, with Harold himself blowing glass. It was a sight to see.
Anyway, Harold being Harold, fought with Charlie over making the tubes exactly like the old WEs. Of course, Harold knew how to make them better.
AFAIK, that first batch of tubes was never equaled and according to Harold's daughter, never paid for.
