I was searching around for a copy of the story on the net and came across a discussion of it that quickly devolved into a "in praise of muscle cars" argument among a number of muscle audio-heads.
Here, we more often than not don't hear any debate between the muscle-heads and the flea-heads, but do hear the flea-heads ranting to the other flea-heads about the absolute necessity of + 100dB sensitive speakers for flea-power SET and the muscle-heads equally ranting to members of their own clan about the need for 10-way speakers for their 600+W SS muscle amps.
The fact is that you can hook up a BBC LS3/5A (82-83dB sensitive) or an LS3/6 (87-88dB sensitive) to either type of amp (within reason, say 3.5-1000W) in a small room and for 90% of the music that exists, you'll get a breathtaking presentation.
"The rest is noise".
Observe, before you think. Think before you open your yap. Act on the basis of experience.
