Yes it can be done, but the cathode resistor needs to be changed to accomodate the 45. In this design, the 2A3 runs at approximately 45 mA which is too much for the 45. The recommended operating point for the 45 is about 20-25 mA especially if you're using NOS tubes.

Look at the schematic below - for a 45, change the cathode resistor to approximately 1250 ohms.
