Well Wayne visited with his shorted turns tester on the weekend.
It showed that the stressed choke was OK but did'nt tell us much about the output tranny.
I took the tranny out of circuit and did some simple multimeter checks.
Primary was open circuit end to end but there was continuity between one end and the secondary. The tranny has obviously suffered catastophic failure. The 12R resistor in the cathode circuit (to 0V) on that channel was also quite obviously "cooked" and so bias failure (it is fixed bias) seems to be the likely culprit for all the damage.

Using the good channels output tranny I managed to find that it is a 5K6 Raa which would seem to stack up with 845 running 880V Vak at 80mA.

I pulled the fancy dress case off the "stuffed" tranny and noted that what was inside was VERY agricultural and seemed a little on the light side.

So the 845 is sitting back on the shelf until I get round o ordering some replacement output trannies. Plenty of other projects to go on with.

Cheers,
Ian
