Conceptually, I think its a very good idea, as you will have four times the peak current capability that you had with your P-P amp. Peak current control is exactly what less efficient speakers' voice coils love to "see".
Your output transformer will be low Z, which means high bandwidth.
I would triode connect the KT-88s, do not push their dissipation (no more than 390 VDC P-K, consider 360 VDC) and use self bias.
Is a One Electron UBT-1 another possibility ?
