In my experience a set amplifier sounds best with a tube preamplifier.
I have Welborne Labs DRD300B amps. In the past I tried them with KR Audio P150 (transistor pre), Benchmark DAC1 (as a pre), Bottlehead Foreplay II and Wright Sound AG-1000.
Transistor pre sounds detailed with strong bass but also flat and lifeless. Currently I use the Wright Sound which is very nice.
I would go with option number 2. Fix the tube pre, if it sounds better than the Acurus then or keep it or sell them both and buy a new tube pre.
As for the sub, it is better to connect it to the amps using the speaker in.
