In my opinion, if you had the choice, use the SET on the MRT ribbon. SET sounds much better than the PP tube amps I have tried. I once used PP VTL amp on one channel, SET on the other to compare, and the SET on the midrange was much better. You could also use a reasonably powerful SET integrated on the bass panel, that would be better than most PP amps, but you would get the most bang for the buck from using SET on the midrange ribbon element. The arrangement even works well with a good sounding integrated solid state amp on the bass panel. I ran my Stage speakers with a solid state on the bass panel for several years. I would even say that some solid state-bass panel/ SET midrange ribbon combinations might sound better than some push pull/ SET combos, but not as good as SET/SET. I presently run Analysis Epsilon with SET on both the bass panel and the midrange ribbon, and it sounds great.
