Use of a buffer with PLLXO

I'm interested in experimenting with FMod PLLXOs for low pass. Problem: these devices have very low Zin which my preamp (Shindo Monbrison) with its high Zout (5K ohms) cannot deal with.

Could a simple buffer, SS or tube, be the answer here? Since we're talking bass only transparency is not critical.

Or, how about this: take a high-level signal from the speakers, use a high->low (to RCA) converter, as used with subs, and stick the FMod filter on the end of that. Can't say I've heard of such an arrangement, but it makes sense to me. Am I missing something? This should not tax the power amp (0 feedback SET) at all, correct?

Thx.
