EH 2a3 versus 300B

Is there an actual difference between the 2a3 and 300B in terms of structure? I remember reading in the archives somone posting about Sovtek 2a3 basically was a halved 300B. I guess I ask because I wonder if there are real differences in sound between modern production 2a3's and modern production 300B's from the same company, and not just power, if that makes any sense.
