After listening to plenty of vintage speakers including horns, I am reluctant to change to higher efficiency speakers. I looked at parallel tubes for more power. I settled on a triode connected SE KT88 with an estimated 12-14 watts output that produces enough power for my speakers. The new high quality Genelex KT88 reissue tube pushed the KT88 idea over that 'should I' edge and I am not convinced of a single 300B design with 12-14 watts output.
Allen and Hammond organ amplifiers used small air inductors on the tube plates of parallel connected tubes. Perhaps that is a solution to the reported ever so slight smearing effect of parallel power tubes that I have read about in the archives. As for the triode power tubes, I believe 2A3s are a high performance parallel triode power tube option with reasonable driver requirements.
