Precisely Paul, we are not talking about constant A2 operation and I (and I'm sure many others) have run many tubes in this A1(mainly)->A2(transient) mode to varying degrees for the best part of ten years without a single problem. My 845 amps now have thousands of hours on them. True, it's more complex than the average A1 style SET but the gains are too big to ignore and IME this is a better sound option than P-P for a given power and efficiency.
