I was responding to Thomas' post and had forgotten what yours said. Yes, Class A2 operation can get closer to the theoretical 50% efficiency limit for Class A linear amps.
Few tubes are designed for continuous grid current, but for audio use the grid current is only for momentary transients so grid dissipation does not have to be a problem.
